WHAT IS THE AICD?
The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is a national governance group for leaders and directors across the country and in all industries.
Their purpose? To strengthen society through world-class governance.
Their mission? To be the independent and trusted voice of governance, building the capability of a community of leaders for the benefit of society.
Their membership of more than 47000 includes directors and senior leaders from business, government and the not-for-profit sectors and their reach extends internationally with their inclusion in the Global Director Development Circle, a group now known as the Global Network of Directors Institutes (GNDI). As a founding member of the Global Director Development Circle, the AICD is provided with a forum to demonstrate the leadership of Australian directors internationally, and to share expertise in corporate governance and professional director development. GNDI comprises membership organisations for directors from Australia, the UK, US, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Brazil and South Africa.
Whether advocating for company directors, offering advisory services, holding events or delivering education through a range online and face-to-face courses, the AICD is the organisation for aspiring, practising and leading directors to join to be engaged, connected, developed and supported.
"We strive to create an environment of world-leading governance laws and practices, improving the quality and performance of boards, directors and executives in Australia and abroad. We do this by actively engaging with governments and regulators on director issues; providing a range of education, services and support to directors; by working directly with boards and organisations in the application of good governance principles, governance practices and leadership excellence." - AICD

Ali Broinowski
Managing Director, Perfectly Sorted
“The opportunity to undertake CDC regionally came with additional benefits I was not expecting, other than ease of location.
Discussions and learnings with like-minded regional business owners and corporate managers meant we made connections which will take us into Boardrooms regionally and much more. The study groups we formed cemented those connections, and the success of the group in passing all assessments was as important as the individuals.”

The facilitation by the AICD content experts was exemplary, the diversity of the participants from all sorts of industry inside and outside of the regions; the hospitality, the venue, the community and down to earth study groups that followed. I can attest that the program fuelled me with clarity about good governance practices that I have been able to apply immediately to my role.”
